5 TikTok content ideas for small businesses that don’t require dancing

For most businesses, making TikTok content can be frightening, but as a digital marketing agency, we encourage our clients to engage in the platform. Creating and sharing content on Tiktok is inexpensive, interactive and has a broad reach to a variety of demographics, making it an effective marketing option for businesses of all sizes.

This blog lists 5 different types of content for TikTok (with some great examples) that don’t require you to shake your tail feather, and breaks down why they’re effective for businesses and brands.

What is TikTok and who is using it?

TikTok is a social media platform that allows users to create, share, and discover short-form videos. Launched in 2016, TikTok quickly gained popularity worldwide, particularly among younger audiences. In September 2021, the platform reached 1 billion active users.

The user demographic based on gender is relatively balanced, swaying slightly more towards women. In 2022, 57% of the active users were women. While many think TikTok is still for dancing teenagers, over the years the audience has levelled out, seeing an older audience jump on board. 36% of TikTok users were aged between 35 and 54 in 2021.

The app’s simplicity, ease of use, and emphasis on user creativity has contributed to its success, making TikTok a significant player in the social media landscape and an influential platform for content creators and businesses.

5 TikTok Content Ideas for Businesses:

1. Story time:

Story time content is an opportunity to give your audience a sneak-peak into you and your brand while sharing your brand’s values. Some popular ideas include: introducing yourself, exploring a customer or client case study or sharing your business journey (including any failures or valuable lessons you’ve learned along the way).

Mood: Insightful, informative and uplifting.

Sell Anything Online: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4t26JW/

2. Demo or “How To”:

Create short, informative videos on how to use your products or demonstrate how well it works. A demonstration reaffirms your knowledge and increases brand credibility, whilst a “how to” could give consumers confidence to use the product. This type of content is also great for launching or teasing a new product. End the video with a call to action, encouraging the audience to follow you for more advice.

Mood: Easy to understand, informative and engaging.

All You Can Face: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4tyPbn/

3. Behind The Scenes

Share some videos of BTS moments of your business. Whether it’s making your product, sharing a day in the life, or what the team does during the day, people love BTS. It’s an opportunity to showcase how much care goes into your work and encourages engagement. This kind of content gives authenticity to you, your brand and your business: real people doing real things.

Mood: Fun, interesting and authentic.

Examples:

Dash. Agency: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4tLsJr/

Classievu: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4tect1/

4. Team Videos

If you follow us, you’ll know we LOVE team videos. It’s an opportunity to create educational videos or use humour to create some fun videos with your team. You can explore common problems the team faces or follow trending relatable content. Team videos are not only a laugh but are effective in adding a human element to your brand which increases brand credibility, and cultivates a stronger relationship between brand and buyer.

Mood: Humorous, trendy, team-building.

Examples:

dash. Agency: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4tJre6/

Fayt The Label: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4t8Kvw/

5. Q&A

Replying to comments and answering questions your audience has asked is a great feature on TikTok. If a video you have posted receives a comment, you can create a whole video replying directly to that comment. Not only does this take the legwork out of content creation, as you can easily make one or two videos a month out of this, but it is also informative for your audience. It shows you are engaged with your customer, interactive and transparent.

Mood: Interactive, informative and easy.

Examples:

Fayt The Label: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4t8729/

Go To Skincare: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL4tD9cg/
