Why we support Connect Kids

Passionate writer sharing insights, expertise, and knowledge on various topics to inspire and inform readers worldwide.

At Thea Media, we believe in using our business to create positive, lasting change within our community. Since March 2023, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with Connect Kids, a registered charity based on the Sunshine Coast dedicated to helping vulnerable children and their families thrive.

Through a comprehensive approach focused on mentoring, education, and employment, Connect Kids offers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the guidance and resources they need to build a brighter future.

Why Connect Kids stands out and we’re proud to support them

Connect Kids is more than just a mentoring program, though it’s roots start her. Their unique three-spoke model ensures that children not only receive emotional support from positive adult role models but also gain the academic and vocational tools necessary for long-term success.

  • Mentoring: Children are paired with caring, reliable mentors who help them build self-esteem, develop social skills, and navigate life’s challenges.

  • Education: By offering free tutoring and educational support, Connect Kids helps students remain engaged in school, preventing them from disengaging and falling behind.

  • Employment Transition: As young people approach adulthood, the charity works with employment partners to help them transition smoothly into the workforce, ensuring they have the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their careers.

In addition to these core services, Connect Kids offers early intervention and intensive family support, providing help to families dealing with issues that may be outside the scope of their standard programs. Their holistic approach ensures that no child is left behind.

Thea Media’s role in supporting Connect Kids

As a local business, we’ve always been passionate about making a positive impact in the community. Over the past 18 months, we’ve had the opportunity to provide pro bono marketing support to Connect Kids, helping them raise awareness about their incredible work. By amplifying their message and expanding their reach, we’ve been able to assist Connect Kids in connecting with more families and supporters, all while keeping their operational costs to a minimum.

Our work has included developing digital strategies, enhancing their online presence, and crafting messaging that reflects the heart of their mission. It’s been deeply rewarding to see the growth in community engagement and support as a result of these efforts.

Lauren joins the Connect Kids Board

I’m also excited to share that I have recently joined the Connect Kids board as a committee member. Becoming more deeply involved in the charity is something I feel strongly about. As the owner and Director of Thea Media, I’ve always aimed to leverage our skills and resources to support organisations like Connect Kids that are doing essential work for vulnerable children and individuals in my community.

Through my role on the board, I’m looking forward to further supporting Connect Kids’ vision and helping the organisation continue to grow its impact. The commitment Connect Kids has to providing long-term support, even after children “graduate” from the formal program, is what makes them so unique. They stick with children and families for as long as they need, working tirelessly to lift them out of disadvantage.

How you can help

Demand for Connect Kids’ services has never been higher, and the organisation relies on the support of our local community to continue offering these life-changing programs. If you’re looking for a way to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children on the Sunshine Coast, I encourage you to learn more about Connect Kids and get involved.

Whether through mentoring, donations, or spreading the word, every bit of support counts. Just like the story of the Starfish, we may not be able to help every child, but together, we can make a meaningful difference—one life at a time.

We are incredibly proud to be a part of this journey, and we look forward to continuing to help Connect Kids thrive.
